Welcome to our Big Conversation, an opportunity for you, our members and key stakeholders, to shape our shared purpose, vision and values here at the LGA. This conversation introduces some very early ideas taken from the findings of internal reflections, and offers you the chance to check, challenge and enhance these early ideas, and, better still, to add your own suggestions.

Why are we doing this?
Building on the prior work of the Future LGA programme, and the insights and contributions you have shared so far, we are holding a collaborative conversation to allow Members, Councils and other key partners to contribute to the co-creation of a new strategic framework. The co-creation process is designed to reveal and use areas of alignment (and misalignment), foster inclusivity, and enhance staff understanding and commitment to LGA's journey ahead.
The results of The Big Conversation will inform the development of our strategic framework, and provide clarity on:
- WHY the LGA exists - our shared purpose and vision.
- WHAT the LGA aims to achieve - our strategic goals and core missions, both in the near horizon (improving what we do) and the next horizon (creating the new).
- HOW we work together - unpacking our values into clear behavioural expectations.

How does it work?
The online conversation works a bit like a social media platform; you can join around your work patterns and contribute as much or as little as you like, at a time that suits you.
The process is anonymous meaning everybody can feel safe sharing their honest thoughts and feelings. The conversation is:
- Anonymous – your name is not attached to anything you share
- For our Members, Councils and key partners
- Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week while the conversation is live
- Accessible from wherever you may be – on any computer, tablet or smartphone
- Analysed independently, so you can feel safe to share how you really feel.
