Your Place, Your Future - LGA consultation
Welcome
Imagine it’s 2040 and your area is thriving. What’s the story of how it got there?
Your Place, Your Future is the Local Government Association’s national conversation about the future of the places we live in. The LGA is the national body for councils in England. For the past year we’ve been looking at what will shape local places by 2040 with councils, partners and experts. Now we want to hear from the people who live in them.
Anyone aged 18 or over who lives in England can take part. If you’re answering for an organisation or group, you’re welcome; just tell us when you sign up.
Tell us what you think.
This is an open conversation about where you live. There are three questions about your area. Share your story under any of them, read what other people have said, and tell us which ideas you like. There are no wrong answers.
Got five minutes? Read a few ideas and like the ones you agree with. Got ten? Add your own story under one of the questions. Got fifteen? Do all three. You can come back as often as you like while it’s open.
Everything shared will be read and analysed. The findings will be published in early 2027 and will inform the LGA’s work with councils and government on the next 15 years.
How it works?
Sign up with your email address and you’re in. You’ll see the three questions on the main page; answer them in any order, and come back to the main page or choose ‘show all questions’ to move between them.
Other people will see what you write but not who you are. Your email address is only used to run the conversation and is never shared; and the few bits of information we ask of you are only used to look at the views in aggregate by broad characteristics of a person. The platform is run for the LGA by Clever Together. Read how we handle your information by clicking on 'Your Privacy' at the bottom of this page.
The conversation is open until 13th November 2026. Any Questions? Email lghorizons@local.gov.uk
